TREND REPORT: CAPRIS

The groundhog may say we have 6 more weeks of winter, but that doesn’t mean you can’t prep for spring! Capris are the perfect addition to your new spring wardrobe.

Named after the Italian island, the capri first became popular in the 1960s when style icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy began sporting the cropped style. Mid-century capris were typically high-waisted, creating an elevated and chic look. Conversely, when capris made a comeback in the early 2000s, the pant was slung low on the waist and paired with crop tops for a casual, sporty look.

The capri is once again returning for spring 2025. With the pants appearing on runways and guests at New York, Milan, London, Paris, and Copenhagen Spring/Summer 2025 Fashion Weeks, high fashion has confirmed this. The beauty of the capri resurgence is its versatility. In the upcoming months, expect to see capris in a variety of fabrics, from denim to nylon to tailored cotton, in both neutrals and prints. The diversity of available fabrics and colors make the style a staple for eclectic or classic wardrobes.

Capris will pair perfectly with a kitten heel or ballet flat for spring, and can add a graceful touch to a more classic look. Dress it up with a blazer and belt for a unique professional touch, or dress it down for the weekend with a tank top.

Capris are back, so be ready to embrace the revived style and make them a new staple in your spring wardrobe.
