Which Fashion Trends Are In-Bloom This 2022 Spring/Summer Season?
As we approach the month of May and flowers begin sprouting with the rising temperatures, let’s track down which fashion trends are hot and in bloom for this spring/summer season. From bright and bold colors to the resurgence of the 2000s, there are a number of trends already dominating the fashion world that we forecast will continue into the upcoming months.
In Living Color: Color palette for SS 2022
This season it is of utmost importance to make your mark in the world by making a statement in the brightest and most saturated colors. The theme for this season is the brighter, the better.
A number of leading fashion magazines have tracked down bright pink and green tones as the hottest two colors of the season. The shades of pink include a range of neon pink, hot pink, and the shade Innuendo (Pantone 18-2042). The shades of green vary from grass green, lime green, and Basil (Pantone 16-6216). Both colors have made several appearances on the runway including shows for Versace, Christian Siriano and Valentino.
The Resurgence of the 2000s:
In recent seasons, inspiration from 2000s fashion has infiltrated the clothing racks of stores all across the world. This resurgence further proves the age-old rule that fashion trends repeat themselves every twenty years.
Bright colors, asymmetry, 2000s futurism, hyper-feminine aesthetics, butterflies, and over-the-top is making its return. Baby tees and white tanks are currently trending pieces that were once a staple during this era. Low-rise, fitted bottoms are in style and don’t only apply to jeans, but skirts, as well.
The color palette of the season also has a 2000s air to it. For example, Hot pink became popularized by hyper-feminine iconography from the 2000s such as Paris Hilton, Hello Kitty and films like Mean Girls. Since the dawn of the decade green has made an impact in fashion, a prime example being Jennifer Lopez in her iconic Versace dress at the 2000 Grammy Awards Show.
All Or Nothing Skirts:
This season, skirts are either all or nothing with the current popularity of maxi and mini skirts. The duality of both skirts allows for the consumer to express themselves and pushes for individuality.
The length of the maxi skirt typically reaches the mid-shin or ankle area. You can experiment with tighter silhouettes such as a maxi pencil skirt. Maxi skirts can also have slits or be constructed out of flowy fabrics, whatever suits your taste best.
Mini skirts push forward the 2000s fantasy as we channel our inner-Paris Hilton. The most iconic example of a mini skirt this season is Miu Miu’s rendition, becoming a major talking piece amongst fashion connoisseurs as they embrace the nostalgia of the clothing piece.
The Power in a Suit:
The power suit is back and it is bigger and bolder than ever. A reminder that this year’s goal is to command attention when walking into any room. You should be making a statement without having to say a word, rather allowing your clothes to do the talking.
Achieve this by wearing a power suit in bright and bold colors. The fit of the pants can be wide-legged or tailored to the body, you have the freedom to choose your style.
Trending Styles & Designs:
Cut-outs: The best way to elevate an outfit is to accentuate your body with cut-outs. Cut-outs have been a hot new trend making several appearances on the runway. They are an edgy addition to any outfit.
Nets and Knitted Wear: Nets and knitted wear are hitting the racks being a perfect clothing design for the heat. This breathable design is what you need for those warm days by the poolside or on the beach.
Micro-top: Micro-tops are a big hit that allow you to showcase your body and be comfortable in your own skin. Bralettes and a bra are both alternatives to a micro-top. You can cross-over trends by wearing a bright and bold or 2000s inspired top.
Feathers: Ostrich feathers are the best way to enhance any article of clothing. Bringing a sense of class and fun to your wardrobe.
Pleats: Pleats are a clothing design that expresses your whimsical and eccentric personality. Pleated maxi skirts and mini skirts are what you need in your closet this spring/summer season.
Bermuda shorts: This classic short design is making a comeback. Bermuda shorts are a comfortable and breathable design to happily enjoy the sun.
Shoes and Accessories:
Platforms: Platform anything has stomped out the outdated flat shoe. Bringing your outfits to new heights — literally! This season keep an eye out for platform heels, shoes, loafers, sandals and more.
Oversized and Over-The-Top Accessories: Remember this season is all about the bigger, the better. Oversized accessories are the key to fit with the category. Oversized accessories include oversized sunglasses and bags. You can also make a mark through colorful, flashy and eye-catching accessories.
